Alo & the Narcissist
Giving pop music a fresh sound and a new androgynous look, artist Alo and the Narcissist left NYC and landed in downtown LA to turn heads, twist ears... and pinch a lot of butts. Inspired by an eclectic array of musicians such as Yaz, Deee-Lite, Stevie Wonder, and Björk, the Narcissist blends funk elements with freestyle, electronica, and soul. The sound is lightly finished with hints of his Portuguese roots. His live show includes such spectacles as nude dancers breaking free from secret stage compartments, a chorus of Village People impersonators, and a rapping drag queen. Alo’s ultimate goal in every song and its presentation is a lesson for the audience – a lesson in self-realization.
Some important players involved with the project include Allen Copeland of Pig Factory publishing, Marcus Brown (Madonna, Daft Punk), Ian Read (Limp Wristed, Sticky Banana), and David Zevin.
Keep an ear open for the song “The Narcissist” in the horror film Sigma Die.
