Franki Chan of IHEARTCOMIX

Yes, Franki Chan is a DJ. And yes, Franki Chan is an accomplished illustrator. And yes, (how could we forget?) Franki Chan is the owner of IHEARTCOMIX, an event promotion company and record label. That’s certainly an impressive resume of accomplishments, aye?

Here’s how it starts:
Franki Chan was raised in good ol’ Indiana; Seattle and Okinawa also make the list of previous residences. Along the way, he was inspired by punk shows and the 80’s music revival that began in the late 90’s. Franki began to plan and promote a lot of underground shows. The shows, however, were not enough; Franki decided that there should be something to do when the show was over.

This is the part where the turntables come in:
His underground shows eventually became the hottest after-hours parties – with Franki spinning, of course. And the parties eventually became regular gigs at dance clubs around the world. As a DJ, Franki takes all of the standard crowd pleasers, mixes them with breaking artists and unheard gems, and gives you the best damn time. Ever.

Now, things get bigger:
In 2003, Franki founded IHEARTCOMIX in Los Angeles. Over the last few years, he has started several successful events including F*cking Awesome, Sunday-Funday, Cinespace Tuesdays, and the current rage, Check Yo’ Ponytail. He’s currently developing IHEARTCOMIX Records, which is producing releases by Matt & Kim, Protokoll, Ocelot, The Toxic Avenger, and Dreamburger.

Here’s where you get jealous:
Franki Chan has played alongside DJs such as MSTRKRFT, Justice, Spank Rock, The Rub, Bloc Party, Flosstradamus, Switch, Boys Noize, She Wants Revenge, Lady Sovereign, The Teddybears, My!Gay!Husband!, Roxy Cottontail, Diplo, The Presets, Para One, Simian Mobile Disco, A-Trak, Peaches, Lupe Fiasco, Annie, Interpol, and lots of other cool people that would make you even more envious. He’s also played private events for the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Cristina Ricci.

Insert a mention about North American, European, and Australian tours here so you know how serious/hardcore this dude is.
